Price is the number one consideration in most fine jewelry purchases. Single pearl necklaces and Freshwater strands start around $300. Classic white Akoya pearl necklaces begin at $350 and reach $10,000 for large Hanadama-certified strands. Tahitian and South Sea necklaces start between $1,000 and $2,000, and go well over $50,000 for truly exceptional pieces.

There is no standard grading system in the pearl industry. While most sellers use some version of A to AAAA grading, what that actually means is specific to the vendor. At Pearls of Joy, we focus on AAA and AAAA, with some strands available with third-party certificates (Hanadama). For our internal grades, our focus is always luster, shape, surface and size. 6.5-7.0mm or 7–7.5 mm pearls are the traditional starter size pearls, balancing wearability, elegance, and price. When looking exotic pearls like Tahitian or South Sea pearls we most commonly see strands around 8-11mm and almost always graduated.
We source directly from pearl farms and avoid traditional 8–10x markups. Our pearls are priced at ~1.4x markup, which often equates to around 70–80% less than traditional retail.
Most orders ship within 24hrs and orders within the USA come with Free 2-day FedEx. Which means from order to delivery you can expect to see your pearls in as little as 3 business days. International orders take about 1-2 days longer on average.
Store your pearl necklace in a soft pouch, avoid chemicals, and clean gently with a damp cloth to maintain its luster. Wear it often to keep pearls hydrated.

Yes, our premium Japanese Akoya Hanadama strands include third-party certificates, some Tahitian and South Sea strands offer 3rd party lab reports as an upgrade. All others are graded internally by our team of experts using the GIA 7 grading factors.
Rub one gently against your front tooth. Real pearls feel slightly gritty, while imitations feel smooth like glass. Real pearls also carry more weight, and no two on a strand are perfectly identical. Every necklace we sell is strung with real cultured pearls.

Simply add a pair of pearl earrings to your order and we'll do our best to ensure a seamless match with your pearl necklace. General rule is choose the same size(as the necklace) or bigger for earrings, avoid going smaller.
